Eric graduated in 1988 with a B.A. in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University in 1996 and recieved the American Meteorology Society's broadcast seal of approval in 1998.

Eric began his broadcasting career in Wilmington, NC, where he was a studio cameraman. From there he jumped in front of the camera as a news/feature reporter and anchor for WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach, SC. It was there that he ventured into weather as well.

In January of 1991 he went to WGHP/FOX8 as a meteorologist/ feature reporter and host.

From 1997 - 2003, he was a morning meteorologist and host of "Good Day Tampa Bay" at WTVT/FOX 13 in Tampa, Florida.  It was there that he handled celebrity interviews, cooking segments, home improvement segments and even pet segments.  He also hosted a weekly tech segment called Tech Talk with Eric Chilton.
From there it was off to WFMY in Greensboro where he hosts/produces and anchors a 3hr weekday morning show called "The Good Morning Show" or GMS.

His personality, quick wit  and ability to connect with people have set him apart over the years.

Eric is a father of 4 and a hubby to one.   :)
